Amsterdam has often been referred to by tour guides as
Venice of the North. They said that this is evident of their canals, just like Venice, are also being traveled as primary means of transportation. Riding a sight-seeing canal cruise is definitely a must while in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
There are a number of different tour companies that offer canal cruises in Amsterdam, but most of them pretty much passes through the same canals. Their routes might be slightly different, we are guessing because they have different point of origins, but they highlight the same places on their cruise. We have taken the Amsterdam Canal Cruise twice already and we enjoyed both of them. We bought the souvenir picture the second time we went since it was only for 3euros. Tour and cruise companies also offer Candle-Lit Evening Cruises, and even Dinner Cruises for a hefty price. Yours truly have not tried it ourselves yet but we are sure that it is a very romantic experience.
Some of the architectural attractions in Amsterdam that are featured in the cruise are NEMO, Maritime Museum, Central Station, Rijksmuseum, Anne Frank House, Seven Bridges, Skinny Bridge, Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, and Toren Overhoeks.
